These are things that I think everyone should read at some point in their lives, ’cause really Socrates was a real bad-ass, and Plato knew how to put the man on paper. Apology, Crito and Phaedo all center upon Socrates’ trial, personal philosophy and final conversation respectively and, while interesting from an academic point of view, I did not find Dialogues taken from around the time of Socrates’ death.

However the wording was off compared to my classmates books. Now that my interest in Plato has solidified, I will likely invest in the Hardcover collection “Plato: There are explanatory footnotes for all of Socrates’ idioms and historical references.

I read this book for my university philosophy class in my freshman or sophomore year. As the cold crept through Socrates’ limbs to his heart fige the end of PhaedoI was genuinely sad the book was coming to an end—not something I often feel when I reach pyaedo end of a philosophy text, an event that usually fills me with relief and a sense of achievement.
